Matthew Goucke will replace Rob Jackson as the managing partner of the Walkers Cayman Islands office on 1 July.

Jackson, who will have completed three years in the role when he steps down on 30 June, will remain with Walkers as a finance partner.

Jackson joined international financial services firm Walkers in 2005, where he made his name advising on complex cross-border finance and corporate transactions. During his three-year stint as managing partner of the Cayman Islands office, Jackson oversaw sustained year-on-year growth, said Walkers in a press release.

When Jackson was made the managing partner of Walkers’ Cayman office in 2023, he highlighted developing talent as one of his key aims.

After three years in the job, he remains convinced it is key to Walkers’ success in the jurisdiction. “Three years as OMP has given me an even deeper appreciation of what makes the Cayman Islands office exceptional – the quality of the people and the work,” said Jackson.

He also supported key charity initiatives, such as the Blue Iguana Conservation Programme. “Rob has been instrumental in the continued growth and development of our Cayman office over the past three years,” said Ingrid Pierce, global managing partner of Walkers.

“His leadership has been defined by a collaborative, people-first approach that has left a lasting positive impact on the team and the business. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Rob for his many contributions and the example he has set while leading in Cayman.”

Jackson’s replacement, Goucke, has been with Walkers since 2007 and is a partner in the firm’s insolvency and dispute resolution group, specialising in corporate recovery and contentious insolvency.

“Matthew is an exceptionally talented lawyer who is highly regarded across the market, and I look forward to working closely with him as we build on this strong foundation and enter an exciting next chapter,” said Pierce.

“I leave the role knowing it is in very good hands with Matthew,” said Jackson.
