Collaboration for US travel organisation

The United States Travel
Association and the World Travel  &
Tourism council have announced that they will be working closely together and
sharing resources.

The memorandum of understanding,
said US Travel President Roger Dow, means that the two organistions will work
closer together to share communications and research and preparation for future
crises as well as sustainability and environmental concerns.

The organisations will share market
data and co-operate to develop strategy to identify mutually agreeable
positions.

There will also be talks on which
meetings, exhibitions and events will be held in America
that relate to travel and tourism or the US marketplace.

However, the recession has led to a
significant decline in the exhibitions and conferences industry, according to
the Centre for Exhibition Industy Research. During 2009 the industry declined
by 12.5 per cent, a considerable decline even on 2008’s losses which were 3.1
per cent.

Decline is measured by net square
feet, revenue, professional attendance and numbers of exhibiting companies.
