Wine and Wisdom sparkles

106.1 KISS FM
partnered up with Bacchus restaurant to serve up – wine and wisdom. On
Saturday, 27 March trivia enthusiasts put their wisdom to the test while
indulging in fine wine and gourmet cuisine.

Eleven teams competed,
each with a maximum of four players. Participants had their eye on the unusual
prize of a courtesy ride for the night – complimentary dinner and drinks for
the winning team.

The closely
fought competition was a close event with only four
points separating the first three places. Questions ranged from specifics of wines, to history and geography of
wine regions. For many the novel highlight of the quiz was when four wines were served blind accompanied by trivia about the
individual wines including their vintage, country of origin and further general
knowledge questions about the specific regions that the wine came from.

“Turning out a
packed house, Wine & Wisdom was a
first-time hit. With a free night out up for grabs, the competition got fierce.
Congratulations to the Stein family,” said the station’s programme director
Matt Nasby.

For $49.95 a
head, ate  diners ate Carpaccio of Cayman
wahoo, twice-baked goat cheese soufflé, black Angus fillet Mignon, vanilla ice
stuffed profiteroles – each course paired with a wine.

“Our culinary
team enjoys cooking up unique menus that tantalise tastes and showcase our most
popular dishes,” said Bacchus’ Restaurant manager Martin Pilat.

“In keeping
with the theme of the night, the trivia questions focused around the regions in
which the various wines paired with the menu were from.”
