Boys double-A softball saw loads of offense recently.
Paint Pros scored six runs in the fifth inning to
break open a tight game and overcome Subway 11-2 in recent action. It was another
phenomenal performance by Subway, with pitchers Finigan Huffington and Daniel
Nicholson keeping the game close to the end.
The fielding was on the upside at times, with James
Green and Matthew Trotter catching pop flies and Daniel Nicholson making a
play to Finigan Huffington at first base for an out. Subway also had solid
hits by Cory Burke, Cameron McWatt, Finigan Huffington, James Green and Daniel
Home Gas turned up the heat on Kennedy Gallery to
win 15-8 in a recent Double-A game. Strong hitting in the second and third
innings by Home Gas players, highlighted by bases-clearing doubles by Matthew
Guitard and Tre Dilbert, allowed the team to rack up 13 runs early in the game.
Two additional runs were scored in the last inning.
Scoring runs for Home Gas were Daniel Reid, Kevin Webber, Matthew Guitard (2),
Pablo Bertran (4), Ryan Vander Bol (2), Tre Dilbert (2), John Chisholm and Ryan
Excellent pitching by Pablo Bertran held the Kennedy
Gallery batters hitless until a Josiah Derksen double in the bottom of the
fourth inning started the team on a rally that lasted through the end of the
game, but wasn’t enough to overcome Home Gas. Kennedy Gallery players who
scored during the game included Connor Hoeksema, Tuarean Cox (2), Josiah
Derksen, Daniel Lee (2), Connor Woods and Jagger Hope.
Over in single-A Island Paving went down swinging as
they fell to undefeated leaders Crighton Properties 12-6. Island Paving’s
reliable shortstop Jathan Bodden took the mound for the first time as pitcher
while Crighton Properties starter Zion Coe struck out four and induced two
