Cinco de Mayo run is so much fun

Cinco de Mayo does not, as many
people suppose, signify Mexican Independence Day, which is actually celebrated
on 16 September.

Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates
the victory at the Battle of Puebla on 5 May 1862, gained by a vastly
outnumbered group of Mexicans over a superior force of French invaders.

In keeping with the expressive mood
of the day, Carlos & Martin’s Tex-Mex Cantina will be offering food and
drink specials throughout the day. Everyone is invited to join in the fun.

Also taking place is the
traditional Cinco de Mayo 5K Run/Walk organized by the Phoenix Athletic Club on
Wednesday. The action starts at the entrance to Safehaven at 5:55pm, with
registration closing at 5:30pm.

Outstanding event shirts, theme-related
performance and random

Prizes and drink vouchers for all
finishers at Carlos & Martin’s following the activity are all included in
the $15 entry fee.
