FirstCaribbean supports junior achievers

FirstCaribbean International Bank
(Trinidad and Tobago) partnered with Junior Achievement Worldwide to host the Junior
Achievement Caribbean Summit from the 14-16 April.

The Summit “Aligning our Vision,
Actions and Impact”, was held at the Cascadia Hotel in Trinidad and Tobago.

Its main goals included providing
an opportunity to get more insight into JA Worldwide’s strategy as well as
addressing the priorities of the regional arm of the organisation.

The event also facilitated the
exchange of best practices and knowledge among the Member Nations, and allowed
for the identification of new and specific opportunities for the Caribbean that
could be achieved through collaboration.

FirstCaribbean’s involvement in The
Summit had been agreed in a four-year Memorandum of Understanding with JA
Worldwide signed in 2008 and resulted from the recognition that resources and
opportunities needed to be provided for the youth of the region.

One of the specific areas covered
by the MOU was collaboration in the decision-making process for the
implementation of Junior Achievement Programmes throughout the Caribbean and
the Summit was an integral part of this process.

In his speech at the closing of the
Summit Mr. Vincent Bolland, Senior Corporate Manager FirstCaribbean
International Bank said, “Encouraging the positive development of youth through
education is not only a form of giving, it is one of the best investments that
can be made.”

JA Worldwide has encouraged and equipped young
people for success through business and economic education programmes since
