Cayman’s fittest adults get their
chance to compete with the best track and field kids this weekend.
In celebration of the 15th edition
World Athletics Day, the Cayman Islands Athletic Association will be one of the
IAAF member federations participating in this global athletics meet on Saturday
at 4pm at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
The meet is open to all schools,
clubs and individuals and encompass age groups 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16,
17 and over.
Events being contested are: 100
metres hurdles, 80m, 150m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m, long jump,
high jump, shot put, discus, javelin and ball throw.
As with all Cayman track and field
meets, World Athletics Day will also give athletes in training the opportunity
to qualify for upcoming regional and international competitions in the youth,
junior and senior age groups categories.
