Cayman diving mystery

A
secret diving adventure will be available in Cayman from June onwards. It
features hidden ancient temples, earthquakes, danger and treasures aplenty, to
a backdrop of the Cayman Islands.

But
you won’t have to get your feet wet or risk a painful case of the bends, no
matter how deep and how often you dive. Dive: the Medes Secret, created by
Spanish gaming company Cosmonaut Games, is the newest computer game for the
Nintendo Wii console.

The
game is a mix of platform and action that recreates underwater scenes from 10
real locations around the world, including Medes Islands on Catalonia’s Costa
Brava, Bermuda, Bimini, Madeira and Cayman Islands. The various levels,
according to Cosmonaut games, are full of enemies, mazes, dangers and
treasures.

Economy

There’s
also an economy element that allows players to exchange or upgrade diving
equipment – something essential for the deeper mysteries of the more tricky
levels, explained Jose Giacomelli of Cosmonaut Games.

“At
the beginning of the development, we needed to find 10 locations all over the
world to dive there looking for treasures. Dive: The Medes Islands Secret is a
fiction game but we thought that it was a good idea to add real locations to
the journey of the main character, John Sanders.

“Cosmonaut
is based in Spain, and we have near beautiful places like Medes, Madeira,
Santorini or Azores. But we wanted to complete the world travel using other
special and beautiful locations. We’ve never been in Cayman Islands but, after
seeing a lot of photos, I thought Cayman had to be in the game,” said Mr.
Giacomelli.

Dive:
The Medes Secret will be distributed online through Nintendo’s WiiWare service
starting in June.

 It features hidden ancient temples,
earthquakes, danger and treasures aplenty, to a backdrop of the Cayman Islands.
