New gov’t office for Cayman Brac

Almost two years after Hurricane
Paloma destroyed the original Creek Post Office in Cayman Brac, the community
will soon have a new government office.

Deputy Premier and Minister of
District Administration, Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, recently presented a cheque
for the purchase of a new building to Patricia Bodden. The building was previously
owned by Miss Bodden’s grandmother, Petrona Connolly-Bodden, the community’s
first mid-wife. The building is now being refurbished into the new office, and
should be up and running in August of this year.

“Our first mid-wife lived here,
making this the birthplace of many of the Brac citizens. It is therefore
fitting that we are now using this building to again serve the community,” said
Mrs. O’Connor-Connolly.

The building will house a sports
office and a post office.
