Jet Around Cayman 2010 for fast-paced family fun

With Jet Around Cayman just around
the corner, riders are prepping their Jet Skis for final test runs before
taking on their biggest challenge yet for 2010. If past years are anything to
go by then the event will certainly attract the crowds.

And as usual, entertainment off the
water promises to be just as splashy as the action on the sea at Public Beach
on Monday, 14 June. There are a number of events preceding the main race,
beginning at the start of the weekend.

The kick off celebration begins on
Saturday, 12 June at Margaritaville, starting at 4pm. Not only will a bevy of
JAC calendar girls be there to represent for the race, event organisers
Paramount Media is also staging the races’ first annual Bikini World Cup at

Ladies from 16 different world cup
nations will compete to see who can be named the Bikini World Cup champion with
a chance to win $1,000 in prizes. Bring your swim suits and come join the fun.

Race Arena

On Monday, Public Beach will be
transformed into the Jet Around Cayman Race Arena from 11am as MC James Barbarfald
will host the LIME Main Stage. Pre- race entertainment will be provided by
Paramount Media’s all-star DJs, VIBE’s DJ Docta and SPIN’s DJ Billy Corduroy,
who will be playing Caribbean, adult urban and top 40 hits.

Monster Media has taken a new
approach this year and not only will the beach be transformed, but there will
be many other attractions making the whole day fun for families and
friends.  The JAC Calendar girls will be
signing copies of the 2010 JAC calendar, there will be LIME and Heineken prize
giveaways and food tasting including mouth-watering jerk chicken and a variety
of pastries from Dunkin’ Donuts, plus product displays from many of the JAC
sponsors. Cayman Free Press, as long-time sponsors of the event, will also be
making its presence felt and Home Gas is bringing out their world-famous
Bubba’s grill and providing samples of great grilled food.

The Cayman Islands Volleyball
Association, in partnership with Monster Media, have also organised a
Spike-N-Splash three-on-three co-ed volleyball tournament. There will be two
divisions of the competition, pro and amateur, with lots of prizes for each division.

Entry into the tournament is $75, and
each team must include at least one female. Contact [email protected]
or call 916-6556 for details or to register your team.

In addition to the volleyball
tournament, a team of architects and designers have been commissioned to take
their artistry to the beach to make one of kind sandcastles. These unique
structures should provide great photo opportunities for the family and spur
them on in their own sandcastle efforts.

At 1pm sharp the riders will speed
off from Public Beach leaving plenty of surf in their wake while setting off on
the intense round–island course. The awards ceremony, where over $20,000 in
cash and prizes will be given out, will finish at around 5pm.
