British Airways launches private air service

A pay-by-the-trip private aircraft
service for British Airways customers flying within North America and the
Caribbean has been launched.

PrivateConnect is operated by BA in
conjunction with Citation Air and its parent company, the Cessna Aircraft

An online registration and
dedicated phone number allow BA customers to pay and go with a credit card,
avoiding the long-term commitment and up-front fees normally associated with
private jet hire.

Robert Boyle, British Airways’
director of strategy and business units, said it is an innovative service that
demonstrates the carrier’s dedication to flying their customers in style.

“Now we can offer our customers a
seamless service to fly when they want and where they want, to almost any
destination within the United States, Caribbean, southern Canada and Mexico in
the luxury and privacy of their very own private jet, provided by CitationAir
and the Cessna Aircraft Company, both leaders in the private jet industry,” he

Steve O’Neill, CitationAir’s
Founder and CEO, said, “CitationAir’s focus is to align with like-minded, world
class organizations that share our passion for excellence and our high
standards for extraordinary customer experience. We are extremely pleased to be
launching this new program with British Airways and look forward to extending
our offering to their customers.”

For those transferring between the
two carriers, chauffeured transport will be on hand after clearing customs to
drive customers between their British Airways flight and CitationAir private

BA customers can also take
advantage of PrivateConnect to fly within North America, even if they haven’t
arrived on BA, said a statement by the company.

The cost of each trip depends on
the aircraft selected and the length of the trip, with the least expensive a
Citation CJ4 at US$6,464 an hour, going up to $10,874 per hour on the Citation
Sovereign. Costs include the trip, fuel, federal excise and segment taxes,
property, landing and other associated taxes, international fees for flights
outside the United States, onboard snacks and beverages and transportation
between BA and Citation Air aircraft.
