Going online to look for a
telephone number or address can have some unexpectedly good results, as Cayman
Buzz directory user Paul Chivers found out recently.
Mr. Chivers was the lucky winner of
$500 worth of Foster’s Food Fair IGA vouchers after he registered to rate and
review businesses on the Cayman Buzz website, www.caymanbuzz.com.
Visitors to the site are invited to
register and then review and grade businesses and services they have used.
Cayman Buzz sales representative
Gary Mills said that the review and rating system began earlier this year and
has garnered much interest from visitors to the website.
“People are going online more and
more, and every customer has had good, bad and indifferent experiences with
different shops or tradesmen they have used. We invited people to go online and
register on Cayman Buzz and get reviewing their favourite or least favourite
shops, restaurants, etc,” Mr. Mills said. “Anybody can do it and it helps the
good stay good and the worst get better by telling other people in Cayman where
to go or who to trust.”
Site visitors can give businesses a
maximum five-star rating for first-class service or zero stars if they are
unhappy with the service or treatment they have received. They can also type in
comments about the companies they are rating.
Mr. Chivers was delighted to win
the vouchers, which he said he spent on hurricane supplies.
A frequent visitor to the Cayman
Buzz website, Mr. Chivers said he finds the reviews written by others useful.
“When I was looking for a good vet, it was useful to read the reviews. I didn’t
use a vet until I got a puppy last year so didn’t know much about what was
“I use the Buzz quite regularly if
I’m ever looking for a business name and number. It’s nice and easy to use,” he
