Running the bulls in East End

The quiet of the Constitution Day
weekend will be shattered on Monday, 5 July, when the Bull Run watercraft races
take to the waters off East End.

The quarter-mile watercraft race
will take place on the beach adjacent to Miss Vivine’s Kitchen and bring
together the culture and traditions of East End with the thrill of watercraft

The race will feature a straight
sprint, with competitors eliminated through a number of heats until the top two
go head-to-head for all the marbles. The makeup of each of the heats will be
decided through a draw.

The winner will take home a trophy,
Red Bull energy drink, and a prize pot made up of all the registration fees for
the event, so the more people who take part, the bigger the winner’s takings
will be. There will be no classes or categories on the day, with the Bull Run
being run on a “race what ya brung” format.

The final stop on the card is a
circuit five-lap free-for-all inside the sound.

In addition to the racing, music
will be provided by DJ Lexus and other surprise guest DJs, featuring the
hottest and latest soca music and more, perfect for a party day at the beach.

All the delicious East End food
favourites will be on sale throughout the day at Miss Vivine’s Kitchen, while
Wood’s Jerk will also be in attendance with mouth-watering jerk pork, jerk
chicken and steam fish.

“We’re looking forward to a great
day for the family, and the intention is to build momentum and establish this
new event as an annual [happening] for the 4 July holiday weekend…” said
event organiser Shane Edwards of 2Frenzied.

Mr. Edwards also organises the
popular East End Surf Challenge watercraft event.

Entry costs $25, and registration
is open until Sunday, 4 July at 6pm.

To be eligible for prizes in the
Bull Run, riders must be Caymanian, hold Caymanian status, or hold at least a
one year work permit to work in the Cayman Islands.

All teams must be at the race venue
by 11.30am on race day for a briefing. All craft participating in the event
will be inspected at 12.30pm, with the first heat taking to the water at 1pm.

The event is organized by 2Frenzied
in association with Hot 104.1 FM and What’s Hot Magazine. Sponsors include Red
Bull, What’s Hot and Hot 104.1 FM.
