Police have seized motorbikes and arrested two men for dangerous driving and other offences after a spate of reckless behaviour on East End roads.
The move came after two incidents when members of the public alerted police to bikers travelling at high speed on the Queen’s Highway.
The first reports came on Sunday, 8 Feb., but the riders refused to stop for police and escaped.
But a police spokesman said a “strategic plan” was drawn up to deal with any further reports, including the use of “eye in the sky” police helicopters, and the seizures and arrests were made a week later, on Sunday 15 Feb.
The two men, aged 21 and 26, both of Bodden Town, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while not qualified and driving without insurance.
One of the men arrested was wearing a shirt with the words “No Chase Policy” on the back.
Police warned motorbike riders and other road users that any contraventions of the Traffic Act faced arrest and confiscation of their vehicles.
The spokesman added that investigations in the incidents continued.
