Barefoot to perform in Abaco

The
Barefoot Man has got itchy feet again and is preparing to hot-foot it over to
Great Abaco, Bahamas to perform in the Nippers summer concerts, 23-24 July.

A
regular fixture at the packed out concerts for the past decade, Barefoot will
be singing his best-known island songs with his regular backing musicians Barrie
and Chuck Quappe of Sea N’ Be and Mark McTaggart.

A
mainstay for several decades in Cayman’s local music scene, the Barefoot Man
will take to the stage on the 23rd from around 1-6pm and will be singing all
the crowds favourites from his extensive back catalogue. Fans will also be
treated to one of his latest songs about the teenage alleged thief dubbed the
Barefoot Bandit who was recently caught by the police in the Bahamas.

“Business
is booming in the Outer Islands,” said the music veteran. “If you have a good
sized boat you can get there from Fort Lauderdale or Palm Springs across the
Gulf Stream in a day. In fact if you leave Fort Lauderdale in the morning you can
get to Abaco by late afternoon.”

Held
at the famous Nippers Beach Bar & Grill, the concerts will also include a
brace of local Bahamian talent during a weekend festival of island music for
all to enjoy. Situated on Great Guana Cay, the largest of the cays in the chain
of islands off the shore of Great Abaco, Bahamas, the beach bar has seen crowds
of over 1,000 people turn up to tune in to the live island vibes put on by
Barefoot and others.

The
Abacos comprises of a 120-mile-long island chain in the northern Bahamas, which
has several uninhabited islands. Great Abaco Island and Little Abaco serve as
the mainland, with a string of barrier islands separating them from the
Atlantic.
