Visual Arts Society shout for Featured Artists

Are you an emerging or established
artist who has or can create 12 or more pieces of art in any medium to exhibit
locally? If so, why not apply to the Visual Art Society, which is currently
seeking applications for its 2010/2011 Featured Artist of the Season
exhibitions.

The society, which has been in
existence for more than 25 years, is receiving applications from members by its
deadline of the end of August 2010. The society will choose four artists to
hold a seasonal exhibition at the Watler House, in the grounds of Pedro Castle
in Savannah.

“Our Featured Artist of the Season
programme is a wonderful opportunity to let the public know about you, your
artwork, and possibly to make some sales,” said the society’s co-chairman Ivan
Burgess. “We’ve already received a couple of applications and anyone whose
interested but who is isn’t can become a member online.”

As well as holding an exhibition,
for one weekend (with an opening night on a Thursday) with all the press and
refreshments on opening night being sponsored by the society, the chosen
artists’ work will also be showcased on the VAS website.

If applicants don’t have enough
artwork to launch a solo show, the society will consider grouping their work
with that of another artist.

Copies of the application form are
available on the society’s website and should be handed in as early as
possible, with a brief biography and a few photographs of your artwork; to
allow the selection committee enough time to review arises and begin scheduling
the shows.

Featured Artists for the Season
2009/2010 were:  Charles Long, Maureen
Lazarus, Katherine Chiazza and Dana Lowe.
