New fund course on offer

Two new education options for the
fund industry will soon be kicking off in Cayman.

Accredited and awarded in
association with the University of Manchester Business School, the Advanced
Certificate in Fund Administration and the Diploma in Fund Administration will
be offered through CLT International, a training provider of certificated
programmes leading to professional membership of organisations, including the
Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the International Compliance
Association.

Designed for new entrants into fund
administration, the advanced certificate provides introductory knowledge and
practical skills training. It is designed to provide administrators with a good
understanding of the various roles and responsibilities of the fund
administrator, as well as the practical skills to undertake the daily operations
of a fund in a consistent, productive and competent manner.

Following on from the advanced
certificate, delegates can enrol onto the Diploma in Fund Administration, which
covers all of the major aspects of the fund industry but focuses particularly
on hedge funds, the organisation and operations.

The diploma is suitable for those
fund practitioners who already have some practical experience and want to
improve their knowledge. Those wishing to apply for an exemption from the
Advanced Certificate in Fund Administration must be able to demonstrate
significant and over three years’ relevant work experience and have broadly
covered the content of the programme at a similar level in a previous course or
qualification.

The diploma provides detailed
knowledge and practical skills. It is a certificated, professional education
programme. Awarded in association with the University of Manchester Business
School, it covers all of the major aspects of the fund industry but focuses
particularly on hedge funds, their organisation and operation.

The advanced certificate will take
six months to complete and will involve a period of self-study and a locally
held interactive three-day workshop, and it will culminate in a three-hour
examination. All successful delegates will be provided with certification.

The diploma is also a six-month
programme encompassing self-study, a locally held four-day interactive
workshop, an assignment and a three-hour examination. Upon completion delegates
will be able to use the designation Dip (Fund Admin).

In addition, CLT International is
working with the University of Manchester Business School to create a BSc in
Fund Administration. It is anticipated that experienced professionals holding
the Advanced Certificate and Diploma in Fund Administration will be required to
complete a four module top-up programme to attain the BSc to be studied
part-time.
