Brett Fraser made it a double
family success by winning the silver medal in the 200 metres backstroke at the
Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Brother Shaune
took bronze in the 100m freestyle on Monday.
Brett, 20, said: “I’m really
pleased with my medal because my coach didn’t want me to train too hard for
these Games. I have a bit of a strain on my shoulder and will be doing the 50m
backstroke before the 200m freestyle in my final event on Friday.”
Shaune, 22, was pleased with his
bronze considering the brothers had not trained as hard as usual for these
championships. He said he was looking forward to the 200m freestyle which is
his best event. The Frasers, who both swam for Cayman at the last Olympics in
Beijing, are hoping for a one-two.
