Miss Cayman Islands pageant promises to make splashy return

The run-up to this year’s Miss
Cayman Islands Pageant promises several exciting events for the six contestants.

This year’s theme, Earth, Wind
& Fire, sets a bold tone for upcoming events and captures the committee’s
enthusiasm to make this year’s pageant bigger and better than ever.

The committee’s first fundraising
event will be the Platform Launch & Charity Auction on Saturday, 21 August
at the Westin Casuarina Resort. The event will be the public introduction for
the contestants: Cristin Alexander, Mysti Bush, Trudy Ann Duncan, Venessa
Ebanks, Janine Martins and Shari Walton.

During the evening, the contestants
will have the chance to speak about their chosen charities, in keeping with the
pageant’s mantra of Beauty with a Purpose. Contestants will also receive their
official sashes from individual sponsors.

During the event, guests will have
a chance to bid on various luxury items during a charity and silent auction,
while being entertained by the evening’s festivities.

Another fundraising highlight, the
Minister’s Black Tie Ball, is scheduled for Saturday, 18 September at the Grand
Cayman Marriott Resort. The event will be hosted by the Minister of Tourism,
McKeeva Bush, and is expected to be a colourful evening full of surprises.

The Miss Cayman Islands Pageant is
scheduled for Saturday, 25 September at the Lions Centre. Leading up to the
main event, the contestants have an intense two months of preparation,
including a vigorous training and fitness programme with Ford Fitness, several
photo sessions, the Sister Islands trip and the Island Tour.

Tickets for the Platform Launch cost $25 and are available from Le
Classique, Miss Cayman Committee’s Lovenia Ebanks (916-0264) and pageant contestants.
