Ritz-Carlton hosts Big Brothers, Sisters

Nearly 40 children who participate
in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands programme recently spent
a Sunday afternoon filled with games, crafts and treats at The Courts at The
Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

Despite a blazing sun and
high-even-for-August temperatures, the ‘Littles’ were full of energy as they
ran tennis drills, made jewellery, showed off their limbo moves and played
pirate ship games.

The Ritz-Carlton has an ongoing
relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters through its Community Footprints
program with a few of its senior leaders serving as ‘Bigs’. In May, a group of
Ritz-Carlton guests from BMC Software Raised $10,000 through a run/walk for
BBBS of the Cayman Islands. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Human Resources
Director Janette Goodman planned the August outing with BBBS Executive Director
Marilyn Connolly to allow hard-working parents some free time to meet with BBBS
staff and board of directors.

“BBBS does so much to transform the
lives of children,” said Ms Goodman. “We are grateful that The Ritz-Carlton was
able to play host to the kids while the parents and staff were able to discuss
the business of this critical mentoring organization.”

In addition to working with its
participating families, BBBS is seeking additional volunteers to serve as
mentors for local children in a professionally supported one-on-one relationship.
The organization also needs contributions to continue its work of enrolling,
training and supervising these volunteers.

For more information to volunteer
time or donate funds, please contact BBBS at 345-945-6315 or email Executive
Director Marilyn Connolly at [email protected]
