Cayman 27 and Island 24 were
re-launched last month with a new look and new local shows, according to Cayman
International Television Network.
Cayman 27 is now known as Cayman Informed
and has an information and talk show-based programming, and Island 24 has been
re-branded as Cayman Entertained with themed prime time shows every weekday,
daytime soaps and game shows.
The re-launch is being rolled out
in two phases. The first phase comprised the realignment of programming on the
local channels, adding the new Cayman 27 Tonight news show on weeknights at
6.30pm and the launch of daily talk shows at 7pm nightly.
They included Let’s Talk To The
Experts, Cayman Let’s Talk, The Conversation and Let’s Talk Sports from Monday to
Thursday, and then the Friday art and performance show Art n’ Rhythm.
New staff on the network include
junior reporter Janelle Muttoo, Ben Meade – who will report and produce – and
reporter Kevin Morales.
Themed prime time
Island 24 now runs themed nights at
prime time: Monday comedy, Tuesday crime stoppers, Wednesday drama, Thursday
medical, and Friday movies, said programming director Anita Smith.
“By giving the two local stations a
more specific focus, viewers automatically know where to turn, whether it be
for news, weather, and sports, or entertainment.”
“There will at times be a
crossover, for example during American football, we will be using both channels
to show NFL fans as many games as possible.”
The channels said that they also
welcome locally produced programming. Producers who have completed shows that
they would like to see aired on Cayman 27 and Island 24 may contact Anita Smith
at email@example.com or 745-2739.
