Parade of Lights returns

Boat owners who want to take their
boats for a night-time nautical promenade can sign up again this year for the
Cayman 27 Parade of Lights.

The parade, along The Crescent at
Camana Bay, will 11 December at 6pm.

Registration is open for boat
owners to sign up for this year’s event. Organisers say participants only need
a boat and some decorative holiday lights to enter.

All participants must register; the
deadline for registration is 5pm on 19 November.

Entry is free for private and
commercial/dive boats, and $2,000 for corporate boats. The corporate boat
winner’s fee will be donated to a charity of its choice.

There are no constraints on use of
props, size, or type of boat. Boats will be judged on the “Wow factor”, use of
colour, creativity, and overall impression.

Prizes will be awarded for best
original private boat; best water-sport boat and best corporate boat.

In previous years, the parade has
included a giant illuminated Santa with sleigh and reindeers, illuminated
snowmen and mermaids.

The Parade of Lights was an annual
holiday tradition until Hurricane Ivan struck in 2004. However, it returned
last year for the first time and thousands of residents and visitors turned out
for it.

The event features live musical
performances followed by a fireworks display.

Registration forms are available at
www.cayman27.com.ky and can be completed and dropped off at Television Centre,
