Food manufacturer Nestlé has
recalled its Raisinets 10oz Fun Size Bags because they contained peanuts –
something that was not listed on its nutrition labels.

The products has been removed from
shelves in Cayman’s stores.

Nestlé has received three
complaints from customers about the product.

The fun size bags with the
production code of 02015748/UPC number 2800010255 are being recalled.

“People who have allergies or
severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening
allergic reaction if they consume these products. Nestlé is taking this action
out of an abundance of caution,” a press release from the
company stated.

The release continued: “While this
product is labelled with a precautionary statement “made on equipment that also
processes peanuts,” the product should not, but may contain some peanuts that
are not declared on the label.”

The company has advised the US Food
and Drug Administration of the recall and says it will cooperate fully in its
investigation.

Anyone suffering an adverse
reaction to the raisinets should consult a doctor.

Foster’s Food Fair IGA pulled the
product from its shelves on Monday and said the product would remain
unavailable at its stores until further correspondence from the manufacture the
product. Customers who want to return the product will receive a full refund.
