Four get dms scholarships

Four Caymanians have received
scholarships from dms Organization Ltd.

Francesca Hamann, Latoya Francis,
Danielle Martinez-Gibson and Stephen Chin each received the scholarships, which
are open to students island-wide who are pursuing undergraduate studies. Each
of the students was employed at dms during the summer in their respective
fields.

Francesca is pursuing a degree in
Advanced Multi Media Design and Production at Fanshawe College in Canada. Her
scholarship has enabled her to further enhance her skills in the web
development and design field. Each year she returns to work for dms’ web team
during the winter and summer breaks and she plans to officially rejoin the
company in May upon completion of her studies.

“Both the knowledge that I have
acquired from school as well as the experience from working with the company
will help me to be an even greater asset to the company when I return full time
to work for dms,” said Francesca. “I am so grateful to dms for supporting me as
I pursue a degree in the field.”

Latoya has served as a finance
administrator for dms Management Ltd. for four years. She was a recipient of
the 2009 dms scholarship and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting at
Anderson University in Indiana. She earned her associate’s degree in accounting
from UCCI. Latoya worked in the finance department at dms.

Danielle has served as an associate
of dms Management Ltd. for the last three years and upon completion of her
associate’s degree at UCCI, decided to further her education, pursuing a
marketing degree at Florida International University.

“As a young Caymanian I am
dedicated to furthering my education in order to contribute to the maintenance,
development and growth of business and of young people in the Cayman Islands,”
Danielle said. “I aspire to be a role model through achieving academic and
personal excellence alike.”

Last year, after graduating from
St. Ignatius Catholic School, Stephen was awarded a dms scholarship to pursue a
bachelor’s degree in computer sciences from the Florida Institute of Technology
in Melbourne. After completing his first year, he joined dms’ IT department to
assist with network administration.

“Participating in this programme
has only further reinforced my passion for IT and with the skills that I am
acquiring, I hope to explore employment opportunities with the dms conglomerate
once I complete my studies,” said Stephen. “As a young Caymanian, I plan on doing
my part to give back to my community.”
