Cayman’s children are heading back to school, with some returning to classes this week and the rest by the end of the first week of September.

This means that the morning traffic on Grand Cayman will steadily get heavier as the schools reopen over the next couple of weeks.

Schedule

The first school to reopen is Cayman International School, which resumes classes today, 20 Aug. Tomorrow, classes will begin at Triple C School. That’s all for this week. However, next week sees the bulk of schools reopen.

On Monday, 25 Aug., classes resume at St. Ignatius Catholic School and Grace Christian Academy. Year 2 through Year 8 students also return to classes at Hope Academy, with Year 9 through Year 12 students starting on Tuesday, 26 Aug.

Classes resume on Wednesday, 27 Aug. at Calvary Baptist Christian Academy and then Thursday, 28 Aug. sees classes begin at the Cayman Islands Government schools as well as First Baptist Christian School and Footsteps.

The first week of September sees the new term begin at Cayman Prep & High School on 1 Sept., at Island Primary on 2 Sept., at the brand-new CF School on 4 Sept. and finally at Cayman Academy on 7 Sept.

Most schools have an orientation for new students or those moving up to a high school before the day classes begin.

Cayman’s tertiary schools also start soon, with classes beginning at the University College of the Cayman Islands on 1 Sept. and on 2 Sept. at both the St. Matthew’s School of Medicine and the St. Matthew’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Winding up the starts of the fall term is the International College of the Cayman Islands, which has its classes for the fall quarter beginning on 22 Sept.
