The PriceWaterhouseCoopers
Scorpions completed their epic rise to glory in co-ed softball last week. After
years of futility the Scorpions are now the creme of the C League crop.
PWC narrowly edged Team Britcay 7-6
at the Field of Dreams facility last week to end their regular season campaign
atop the standings. The Scorpions are now 10-2 after enduring four straight
seasons (which equates to two years) without a victory. Leading the charge for
the Scorpions was the enigmatic duo of Jeremy Forbes and Eric Stachelski.
Team vice captain Simon Gill said
in passing last week that the squad’s focus now will be on preparing for the
playoffs. At this point PWC’s first match is slated to be Thursday 11 November
at 6.30pm on field three.
The Scorpions were not the only
team to secure top billing heading into the playoffs. Team Deloitte finished
atop the B2 division while the Maples Sluggers headline the B1 division.
Due to the large number of
rain-outs last month, a number of make-up games are scheduled for this week. Of
extra importance will be the trio of clashes featuring the Coors Light Chuggers
and team Home Gas. Both sides are tied atop the A division.
