In the Heineken Sunday League at
the weekend Agua FC were entertained at the Annex by AC Lunetta with each side
seeking victories for very different reasons – Agua looking to maintain their
100 per cent start to the football season which contrasted sharply with
opponents Lunetta who were looking to pick up their first points.
Unfortunately for Lunetta, there
was no respite. Agua hit a devastating period of form on the half-hour mark
when they hit three goals without reply in a four minute period from De Riso,
Tirotta and Enasmo. A shell-shocked Lunetta were glad to hear the referee’s
half-time whistle, however their respite was short lived as they conceded a
further three goals in the second half, all scored by Kormos, with Erwin
getting the first and his sibling, Stephan, the remaining two. Credit to
Lunetta, who never stopped trying to pull a goal back and had their efforts
rewarded when Thomas Surges hit one to make it 6-1.
The other game was the rearranged
one between International Kickers and Harry’s FC at the Annex. Mike Baulk
scored after three minutes for Harry’s and Richard Crozier added another in the
42nd minute.
Kickers made a brighter start to
the second half and pulled a goal back when Dwight Moxam’s free kick sped past
the assembled wall.
Kickers threatened to equalise
during this period but Harry’s weathered the pressure and sealed the win with
two goals in the last 10 minutes. The first through Teko Dickens and the second
from a Chris Fenn tap in, following a fine cross from Irons McKenzie.
With other teams not playing at the
weekend the three points jumps Harry’s into joint second spot in the league
with ten points, but Agua FC remain the only team in the league with a 100 per
cent winning record after four games. Their reserve will be tested to the full
on Sunday morning against Harry’s at Ed Bush in what promises to be a cracking
match.
