Johnson and Johnson subsidiary McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled four Rolaids products because bottles of its chewy antacids are suspected of containing metal and wood particles.
Stores in Cayman have pulled the products from their shelves.
In a statement on its website, the company said its investigation “has determined that the materials were potentially introduced into the product during the manufacturing process at a third party manufacturer.
“While the risk of serious adverse health consequences is remote, McNeil Consumer Healthcare advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use.”
The products which have been recalled are all lots of Rolaids Extra Strength Softchews, Wild Cherry; Rolaids Extra Strength Softchews, Cherry; Rolaids Extra Strength plus Gas Softchews, Tropical Fruit; and Rolaids Multi-Symptom plus Anti-Gas Softchews, Tropical Fruit.
Consumers with questions can call McNeil’s Consumer Care Centre at 1-888-222-6036 Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm EST and Saturday-Sunday from 9am-5pm EST, or visit the company’s website.
