Fraser speeds to silver

Cayman’s Olympic swimming hero Brett Fraser was in fine form again over the weekend, winning a silver medal at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Gainesville, Florida.

Fraser competed for the University of Florida’s Gator team in the men’s 100 yards freestyle, finishing in 42.45 seconds. Fraser’s mark ranks third in the National Collegiate Athletic Association this year and third in school history.

After a week of completely rewriting the University of Florida record books, the men’s and women’s Gator teams each finished second at the at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The Florida women (678 points) fell short of the University of Georgia (720), while the UF men (782) just missed dethroning Auburn (799).

Fraser helped the Gators to second place finish.

  1. Big Congrats to Brett on a great meet. Although I am a little disappointed in this press release. Brett won 2 individual Silver medals in the 200 free and the 100 free. He also won Gold in the 200 medley relay (SEC record), Gold in the 800 free relay (SEC record), Gold in the 400 medley relay and Silver in the 400 free relay. Congrats again Brett cant wait for the NCAA results!
