Craft and thatch on Cayman Brac

April begins with more interesting heritage centred around the activities of Cayman Brac Heritage House.

On Saturday, 2 April, the craft market takes place on the front lawn between 10am and 1pm, says Saskia Edwards, assistant programme coordinator.

“We will have all of the normal goodies available for sale of course – local crafts and artwork, underwater photography, historical and nature books, thatch items, jewellery and local food by Mrs. Ann Walton.”

Manga exhibition

Still ongoing is a great exhibition of anime art by Brac resident and manga artist Dakota Jordan LaNess.

On Tuesday, 5 April, Annalee Ebanks once more demonstrates silver thatch weaving and works between 3pm and 5pm at the Alexander Hotel.

The visitor craft sessions are free and allow tourists to interact with local artisans while learning about Caymanian culture.

During a session guests are told the historical significance behind the items that are made and the materials used.
