Tortuga bakes giant patty

What better birthday present in the
Cayman Islands than a giant Jamaican patty?

That’s exactly what a manager at
Maples and Calder law firm received recently.

The savoury birthday surprise was a
giant Jamaican Tastee patty measuring 22 inches long by 16 inches wide. This
potential record breaking meat pie was specially manufactured by Tastee Patties
Limited in Kingston Jamaica and baked by the Tortuga Rum Company, the exclusive
distributor for Tastee patties in Grand Cayman.

“We think this might be one for the
Guinness Book of World Records,” says Robert Hamaty, founder of the Tortuga Rum
Company, Ltd. “This giant creation is the equivalent to about 20 regular-sized
patties. What a great gift for a big Tastee fan.”

The Cayman Island’s Tastee patty
distributor since 1994, Tortuga bakes these delicious meat pastries every 30
minutes.

Founded in 1984, Tortuga Rum
Company, Ltd. is a family owned and operated business headquartered in Grand
Cayman, with franchise bakeries in Jamaica, Barbados and the Bahamas.

It is the largest duty-free and
retail liquor business in the Cayman Islands with 18 locations. The company
also is known for its world famous Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes, named 2011
“Best Cruise Souvenir” by Porthole Cruise magazine for the seventh consecutive
year.
