Runners took off in the early
morning sunshine from South Sound last Sunday to mark Earth Month with a 5km
It was organised by the National
Trust for the Cayman Islands and began at Pure Art, near the National Trust
building at Dart Part on South Sound Road.
Marius Acker was the fastest male
runner, in a time of 16 minutes 56 seconds, followed by James Ogden with 17.35
and Mark Hogan with 17.51.
The fastest female runner, and
seventh fastest overall, was Beth Schreader, who finished with a time of 19.43.
Next was Emily Davies with 21.33 and Deirdre Billes with 25.24.
The fastest teams were the men’s
and women’s team of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the company which sponsored the
race. There were also prizes for the fastest children under 12 in the race,
which were won by Benedict Long and Taylor Kirkaldy.
Although the event attracted some
of the Island’s fastest runners, there were plenty of families and walkers who
completed the route to support Earth Month.
