Discussions are under way between the Cayman Islands and Panama regarding possible direct flights.
Both Cayman Airways and Panamanian carrier Copa Airlines, an affiliate of Continental, are researching the potential of services, revealed MLA Cline Glidden.
“We are currently investigating other sources of lucrative visitors who we can bring to our shores for great experiences. This includes looking into South America with possible services from Panama.
“What is also exciting is that we are investigating other [economic] partnerships, such as Brazil,” said Mr. Glidden.
He added that further information would come in due course.
Mr. Glidden said that Cayman Airways recently signed a connectivity agreement with Virgin that enables passengers to connect through Havana or Jamaica, which has added to the possibility of European direct visitation. Discussions are also ongoing with other European carriers to connect through Miami and New York City, which would aid the growth of the European visitor market.
