World track meet also serves as qualifiers for CAC

In celebration of the 16th edition World Athletics Day, the Cayman Islands Athletic Association will be participating in the global athletics meet at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex this weekend.

It is on Friday 13 May from 6pm and Saturday 14 May from 9am and will also serve as one of the qualifying meets for athletes preparing for upcoming regional and international competitions in the youth, junior and senior age groups categories.

The meet is open to all schools, clubs and individuals and encompasses age groups 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, and over 17. Events being contested for World Athletics Day are 100 metres hurdles, 60m, 150m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, long jump, high jump, ball throw, shot put, discus and javelin.

The athletic association is also holding trials for the CAC Age Group Championships at this meet and athletes of age groups 11-12 and 13-14 are invited.
