Tourism businesses have until Monday, 30 May to submit their nominations for the annual Stingray Awards.
The awards are designed to recognise excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry of the Cayman Islands.
Nominees are graded on a points system based on examples which the nominator provides, explained Erin Bodden of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, organisers of the event.
“In years past we have received nominations for some great individuals [but] with very little said in their nomination form, in the end they don’t have a chance to win over those who took the time to provide examples of their contributions and success within their organisation and our islands,” she reminded association members in an email. The awards include accommodations employee and manager of the year; watersports employee and manager of the year; restaurant employee and manager of the year; transportation employee and manager of the year.
In addition, any Allied member business can nominate an employee and a manager. This category includes: retail, suppliers, distributors, media and industry services. There are also excellence in tourism awards, which include lifetime achievement, for those with 25 years or more in the industry; long service or special contribution award, for those with 15 years or more in the industry; and the rising star of tourism award for those age 30 or younger within the industry.
The ceremony will be at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on Tuesday, 21 June. Contact the Cayman Islands Tourism Association on 949-8522 or Erin Bodden [email protected]
