Le Mans races belong to Audi

This weekend sees an epic

race against the clock in the form of the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans.

The action unfolds on Saturday 11th June. A titanic battle is set to take place between Audi and Peugeot. Both factory squads will be represented by three cars each with Peugeot having the added benefit of the privateer Oreca Matmut and his team bringing their 2010 908x, which was victorious at Sebring earlier this year.

A major hindrance for Peugeot will be Audi’s new closed top R18. The car has an entirely new chassis and is wickedly fast. What should concern Peugeot most is that Audi have chosen to put Capello, McNish and Kristensen together in the number three car. Between them, they have 12 overall victories in the endurance classic. The R18 should easily be the favourite to win overall.
