Vettel runs past the competition

As the 2011 Formula One season rolls into Montreal, Red Bull Racing stands firmly in control of both the driver’s and constructor’s championships. Considering that the deck was stacked against them, and Sebastian Vettel was under serious pressure from Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button late in the race, Red Bull persevered and Vettel took his fifth win of the season in Monaco.

Some argue that the red flag saved Vettel by allowing him fresh rubber. The end result cannot be questioned: another win for Red Bull. A podium spot should also be in order this weekend. Lewis Hamilton had a horrendous race in Monaco and it’s doubtful he will repeat last season’s performance as the Canadian Grand Prix victor.

The team to watch however is Mercedes. In particular attention goes to two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who has two podium finishes in the last three races.
