Now that hurricane season is here, the Cayman Islands Red Cross is renewing its emphasis on the importance of families having a disaster plan.
To that end, the Red Cross encourages families to discuss the possible scenarios of various disasters and how every member should act in each of these scenarios. This, the agency said in a news release, encourages families to share the tasks and take ownership of their responsibilities in the plan and helps families focus particularly on children, the elderly, those with special needs and also their pets.
Having a plan, the Red Cross says, helps everyone in the family have a greater sense of control and peace of mind before, during and after a disaster.
Children can benefit greatly from this because there is reassurance in the fact they have talked about what can happen and what to do in each case. Having a role and a responsibility makes them feel like they are part of the solution, as well as offers some level of distraction to what may be going on around them, the Red Cross advises.

I do agree with the Red Cross that a disaster plan is needed. However I am disturbed at the following section in the CINICO elegibility plan for seniors or the elderly. It states:
# an elderly participant.
# You will need to complete an enrollment form and present a rejection letter (from an insurance company as classified as an approved provider within the Health Insurance Law 2003 Revision) dated within 60 days from the date of your enrollment form application date.
REJECTION LETTER?
I thought Mr. Bush and his new government had fixed this business of insurance companies cherry picking who they will and will not cover? Why is government taking this stance on coverage for the elderly. Is the government Insurance carrier pressuring them to cherry pick? I hope not. Please explain, this is somewhat troubling. I thought we had buried the Insurance Companies, but they seem to be very much alive and well having it their way, Please Update us. I confused. By the way someone looked on the website for a monthly rate for premiums and none was available.
You should have posted a worked out plan of age, male or female rates monthly for the CINICO PLAN The females usually pay less than males world wide when it comes to insurance coverage. Hello?
