Crime Stoppers is doubling a reward for information leading
to the capture of robbers who shot Kemar Golding in the face, bringing the
total reward to $10,000.
The confidential crime tips hotline announced it would match
a reward of $5,000 offered by Cayman Islands Brewery last week for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the criminals responsible for shooting
28-year-old Mr. Golding in the face during a robbery attempt.
Mr. Golding lost his left eye in the shooting.
He had been helping a friend dispose of garbage from the Red
Bay jerk stand, beside the Lighthouse School, around 11.30pm on Wednesday, 29 June,
when they were confronted by three masked men, one of whom was armed with a
handgun. When the two friends told the robbers they had no money, the gunman
fired at Mr. Golding’s head.
He underwent surgery at the Cayman Islands Hospital on
Thursday. Efforts to secure him a visa to travel to the
United States for more medical attention are ongoing, said James Mansfield,
