The celebrated Academy Sports Club are off to see how well they can do again in the Schwan USA Cup on Sunday. They won one of the competitions last year, a great achievement considering countries from all over the world had teams competing in one of the biggest tournaments of its kind.
This year Academy have 40 players competing on three teams entered in the boys Under-12, 13 and 14 divisions. They also have six siblings registered as guest players on teams from Canada, USA and England. For over a third of their players this trip represents their first ever off island sporting event.
Coach Virgil Seymour said: “We have over 40 parents, siblings and grandparents travelling with the team to cheer them on to a repeat victory. The players have trained four days per week for the last several months. Parents have worked hard to fund raise and support our training efforts and a great group of assistant coaches, parent managers and board of directors have helped make this trip possible.
The complete schedule of games will be posted at www.usacup.org
