Introducing the contestants

The Miss Cayman Committee is gearing up to showcase this year’s Miss Cayman contestants to the public.

A platform launch and fashion show fundraiser will be held at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on Saturday, 30 July, at 6.30pm. Tickets are $25 and are available from contestants or by contacting the Ministry of Tourism on 926-2577.

At the event, Miss Cayman contestants will introduce themselves and their sponsors to the community and recognise the charities they have adopted.

This year’s contestants are: Janelle Muttoo, Alyssa Christian, Jera Ebanks, Jadine Swanson, Crystal Tomlinson, Lindsay Japal, Hettie Ann Dunbar, Samantha Widmer, Jessica Ebanks and Cassianne Lawrence.

Charities

The young women have chosen to support a range of charities: Special Olympics, Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, the New Self Help Community Foundation; Meg High’s Children’s Cancer Foundation, Cayman Aids Foundation, Central Caribbean Marine Institute, Department of Children and Family Services, Cayman Hospice Care, Cayman Islands Red Cross and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.

A special addition to this year’s event is the Fashion Show, sponsored by local retail stores Cayman Couture and Just Add Water.

The contestants will model clothing and accessories from both stores and will be accompanied by male models.

“Everyone needs to come out to support this event. It is a great cause as the contestants are giving back to the local community and assisting in any way they can,” says Lynn Bodden committee chair.

“We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for supporting these young ladies as they embark upon a life-changing experience. We are also grateful to the Grand Cayman Marriott for sponsoring the venue,” adds Bodden.
