The Cayman Islands national Under-23 Olympic team went down 5-0 against hosts Suriname.
Cayman wasted their chances and could have garnered a different result had they capitalized on those opportunities. Cayman is next in action this Sunday 7 August against St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The team features many young stars in goalie Ramon Sealy, Paul Brown, Luigi Hernandez, Nicholas Ebanks, Donald Solomon Jr, Kareem James, captain Andre McFarlane, Michael Johnson, Damion Williams, Theron Wood and Mark Ebanks. All are guided by technical director Carl Brown and assistant coach Thiago Cunha. McFarlane states in spite of the loss Cayman is ready for the next game.
“We are ready to go, the atmosphere in the camp is a good one,” McFarlane said. “We look forward to our game against St. Vincent. We should be able to get the results we are looking for here.”
