Morning power outage reported in North Side

An early Monday morning power outage across parts of the North Side area of Grand Cayman affected about 600 Caribbean Utilities Company customers who were without electricity for roughly three hours before service was restored, a company spokesman said Monday afternoon.

CUC customers located from Old Man Bay Playing Field to Rum Point in Cayman Kai were without electricity between roughly 2.30 and 5.30am, said Neil Murray, a CUC corporate communications officer.

Service has been restored, but the cause of the outage remains under investigation, Mr. Murray said.

“CUC regrets the inconvenience to customers in the affected areas,” he said.

Customers experiencing service disruptions should contact CUC at any time at 945-1CUC(1282).

  1. OK. So they fixed the problem without knowing what the problem was? And by the way, power began going off around 12.30, coming back on, going back off, until it finally fizzled for three hours of darkness.
