Two women who travelled to Miami, Florida to represent the Cayman Islands at the NCA Bodybuilding and Figure Fitness and Bikini Championships have placed second and third.
Manisha Gupta, 26, and Sarah Angliss, 29, took part in the competition, which was held on 20 August, after months of training and adhering to a strict diet. Their programme and regiment was designed by Nadine Dumas of What it Takes, a company that sets eating and exercising plans for people in Cayman and around the world, and then monitors the progress of its clients.
“We were just doing it for fun and went with an open mind. To have placed and take home a trophy was a pleasant surprise,” Ms Gupta said.
She said it was not her immediate ambition to do more competing, but that the experience was one that she would always take with her.
“It was very encouraging and I think we have both become more confident as a result,” she said.
