Paul and Cliff top all

A pair of notable darts players earned fresh props at a local resort.

Paul Anglin and Cliff Weeks would claim the first blind draw tournament for the month at the Grand Caymanian. The duo are no strangers to the sport with Anglin serving as the president of the Cayman Islands Darts Association and Weeks having posted a number of top finishes in past local tournaments.

The duo would beat out runners-up Mel Tagalog and Marcelo Junio. To no surprise last week’s event saw a heavy Filipino contingent.

The next instalment of the weekly competition is slated for this weekend at the resort. That venue is also expected to host the darts association’s annual general meeting on Monday, 12 September, from 7.30pm.

Interestingly Anglin, Weeks and Tagalog are no strangers to playing at the Grand Caymanian. All three took part in the establishment’s first darts tournament last month that saw Tagalog claim a share of the roughly $127 prize for first place.

Anglin was a runner-up and claimed a portion of the roughly $50 winnings. Tagalog would team up with Filipino countryman Johnny Dulnagen while Anglin was partners with relative unknown Matt Lee.

That tournament saw 26 players split up into 13 teams.
