Contemporary artist Tracey Emin will be featured in this month’s Art Flix film, shown at 6.30pm Wednesday, 21 September, at the National Gallery.
In the filmed interview, Emin speaks frankly about her work and career, and some of her best-known works – including My Bed – are discussed.
The British artist is part of the group known as Britartists or Young British Artist. Her art takes many different forms, including needlework, sculpture, drawing, video and installation, photography and painting.
A DVD titled The Eye – Tracey Emin also features film footage of her work.
“Tracey Emin’s celebrity status is due to her hard-hitting and against-the-grain attitude,” says Communications and Marketing Manager of the National Gallery, Mona Watler. “Because of her candid expression of real life her work has become somewhat of a controversial topic.
“Those who are interested in attending should note that this film contains strong language and adult themes that may not suitable for children.”
