Scotiabank celebrating new branch by giving

Scotiabank & Trust will use a different method to celebrate the opening of a new location in South Sound on Friday, 14 October.

Darren Trickett, branch manager at the location, said it is more appropriate to give back to the community by supporting a number of programs and events.

“Historically, when we open a new branch, we invite our customers to attend a cocktail reception,” Mr. Trickett said. “It just seems that in these economic times we could make much better use of these monies and what better way could there be than to give it back to the community.”

Mr. Trickett said four donations will be given during the open house celebrations, which the community at-large is invited to attend on between 11am and 6pm.

Donations/grants will be made to:

National Gallery Building Fund – CI$10,000

NCVO Telethon – CI$5,000

Adopt a Child for Lunch – CI$2,500

Extended After School Programme for High School Students – CI$2,500

“I fully support this idea of Darren’s,” said Doug Cochrane, the managing director of Scotiabank in Cayman. “And with the opening of this new branch it shows the confidence that Scotiabank has in the economy of the Cayman Islands now and into the future.”
