The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman is inviting people to join efforts to eradicate polio and to enjoy themselves with a happy hour at the same time.
The club is hosting an End Polio Now happy hour at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville on Friday, 21 October.
The happy hour will be held to mark World Polio Day, which falls on Monday, 24 October.
The event aims to bring awareness to the effects of polio on children across the globe and to help in eliminating the last one per cent of cases of polio worldwide.
“As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high. Please come out and support our event,” said Jamaal Anderson, international service director of Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman.
Those attending the event are urged to donate and End Polio Now collection boxes will be available throughout the venue. All donations will go directly to the Rotary’s PolioPlus programme, which has eradicated 99 per cent of the virus to date.
