Men’s Day football kicks in

International Men’s Day is being celebrated this weekend to promote fitness and good general health and there is a football tournament to raise awareness.

The Department of Counselling Services’ Family Resource Centre is joining countries around the world in celebrating the first official International Men’s Day in the Cayman Islands. Along with the Department of Sports, the resource centre is organising a football tournament at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on Saturday 19 November from 9am-3pm. The football tournament will consist of five men and five youth. The registration to compete is $15 and $5 for men and boys respectively. The teams’ shirts have generously been sponsored by Davenport Development, Hydes & Sons, Island Taste, Books & Books and the Estella Scott Roberts Foundation.

There will be prizes and cash vouchers for winners. The expo portion of this event has been sponsored by Ogier & Saxon MG and will consist of interactive booths.

The Department of Sports will also have 3 on 3 basketball games and races for all ages.

Families are encouraged to attend this free event.
