CrossFit Cayman did more than just a workout, they teamed up with Mammograms In Action and hosted a unique athletic competition called Barbells for Boobs – Amazing Grace to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer.
Over 30 CrossFit Cayman members completed a very special workout named Grace during their CrossFit training programme. The workout consisted of 30 clean and jerks for a time (a ground to overhead weightlifting movement) in a fun and competitive event involving people from all levels of fitness and athletic ability. The CrossFit Cayman group raised over $1,000.
Beginning two years ago with just one location on one day, Amazing Grace has grown rapidly. In 2010, the landmark event spread to 5 countries and 42 US states with participation from over 5,000 athletes resulting in over $300,000 in fundraising and gaining sponsorship from Reebok and The CrossFit Journal. The 2011 Amazing Grace events was bigger than ever and raised over $517,000 in 31 days in October.
“The passion and commitment of the CrossFit community is incredible and I knew together we could make a difference in the Breast Cancer cause.” said Matt Barnett, owner of CrossFit Cayman.
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning programme for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
CrossFit Cayman is located in Industrial Park and additional information can be found at www.crossfitcayman.com .

Very cool to see this type of fundraising going on. I was a little worried when Reebok first announced that they were basically taking over the Crossfit movement (see the article here: http://wlshoes.com/sneak-peek-2012-adidas-adipower-weightlifting-shoe/). Good to see the direction they are heading in is worthy.
